Fun Fall Activities in and Around Vinings
Who doesn’t love fall? Picking apples, fall festivals, pumpkins, haunted houses and Halloween activities. There’s plenty for all ages. Vinings and the Atlanta area are packed with events that everyone can enjoy this season.
Haunted Houses and Fall Festivals.
On October 27th and 28th, stop by Griffin Middle School Haunted House for Halloween frights and fun for children. The program will include dancing, spooky games for Halloween, face painting, food, soft drinks for purchase and frightening creatures at every turn. The haunted house will be decorated with ghosts, witches, goblins and creepy creatures. Tickets will be available in advance and at the door.
The Fall Jonquil Festival will be hosted on October 28th and 29th this year. This festival includes arts and crafts vendors, puppet shows, live music, food for everyone, and kids activities. Children can enjoy a costume parade and contest, sand art, and interactive games. They have a book sale by the local library, music, and bulbs for sale. Corn dogs, cotton candy, pizza, ice cream, and much more will be available to fill those hungry bellies. Hours are as follows: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. The admission is free for this festival, making it an excellent way to spend the day with your family!
Farmer’s Market, Porches and Pie Festival and Build and Design Event
On October 14th, stop by the Return to Community Market and Fair to purchase some fresh, organic produce and local, handmade goods. It runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hurry before the season ends!
The Porches and Pies Festival takes place on October 21st from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m this year. It features some exciting activities such as a pie contest, music, art and craft market, food trucks and kids activities. The pie contest is open to home cooks and professionals. A variety of musical talent will perform during the festival including The Greg Fortune Band, Barnsley Stewart, and Ivory Williams. The festival will have pizza, donuts, Cajun/Creole food, sandwiches, sushi, Greek, Mexican, ice cream, and much more. Activities for children include a bounce house, face painting, fun obstacle courses, and yoga. The festival is free and open to the public.
The ArchKIDtecture Build and Design event is on Oct. 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m at J.J’s Playhouse Museum & Gym. Professional Architects and designers will be there to help children build models for a small city. The event is free, but donations are welcomed.
