Friends Round Out the St. Angelo’s Motto
Last but not least in our motto, “Friends” play an important part in our small business. From family to pizza to friends, running this business wouldn’t be possible. Sean Rowe, the owner of St. Angelo’s, let’s us in on what friends mean to him, the business and why it’s included in the motto.
In the “Family. Pizza. Friends.” motto, what does “Friends” mean to you. How does this fit into what St. Angelo’s does?
The meaning of Friends to us has evolved. Customers are always referring to us as the Cheers of the neighborhood.
Can you tell us about some of your friends who are a part of St. Angelo’s? Maybe some who are frequent diners or have helped out?
Wow! There are so many, and several have been customers since the beginning. I can remember the first day we were open for delivery. Some of those folks still order for delivery or still come by. It is a tight-knit neighborhood.
Can you tell us about new friends you have made through St. Angelo’s?
I have made dozens of friends over the years either through our charitable involvement or professional associations. Many of those folks become friends over time.
What do you talk about with your staff to relate the concepts of friendship and their importance to St Angelo’s?
We have a very close staff, and they understand how important those relationships are to the restaurant and our customers. When customers see a team that genuinely likes to work together, it changes the whole vibe and culture of the restaurant.
Is there anything special you have your staff do when serving customers to go beyond customer service, and begin that feeling of friendship and caring?
I have servers who actually babysit for some of our customers. That’s how great they are.
Do you have any advice for other business owners who may be struggling to engender the idea of friendship in their staff and places of business?
Contrary to what you constantly hear in the restaurant business, people are not your problem. People are the best part of your business, and when you cultivate those relationships, you’ll be with them for years. We have several employees who have been with us for over five years. That’s how you build a family and make friends.
“Family. Pizza. Friends.” Each word in our motto creates a chain reaction. Without one another, St. Angelo’s wouldn’t be what it is today. Join us at St. Angelo’s for your next family dinner for an experience you’ll never forget!
